| The University of Massachusetts
Donahue Institute received a $1.15 million contract to assist
the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) in determining
the feasibility of transferring the students, facilities,
and operations of 58 Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary
Schools (DDESS) to Local Education Agency (LEA) control. The
study will be led by Dr. Michael Goodman, director of economic
research and analysis. He will be assisted by Mary Mader,
who worked at the Massachusetts Department of Education prior
to joining the Institute’s Organizational Development
and Training Unit. Working collaboratively with the institute
will be faculty from UMass Amherst School of Management (Drs.
Ronald Mannino and Joseph Sardinas) and UMass Lowell School
of Education (Dr. Patricia Anthony). The project will also
draw on a panel of nationally and internationally known school
finance experts (Dr. Kern Alexander, Dr. Richard Salmon, and
Dr. Deborah Verstegen). |
